    • Would you like time travel? Imagine an open-air museum, in the heart of Bas-Armagnac. Nearly 5,000 objects, tools, machines and domestic objects immerse you in the daily life of rural life at the beginning of the last century!

On a fully sheltered route adapted for people with reduced mobility, learn more about the agricultural world, the cultivation of vines, the production of wine and Armagnac. Also visit the workshops of the weaver, the cooper, the clog maker, the carpenter, the joiner or even that of the blacksmith. The brassier's house, a modest house that housed the agricultural worker, invites you to enrich your knowledge of local cob and half-timbered constructions. As a pendant, the beautiful residence of 1850 presents the bourgeois interior of a mansion.

More than a repository of objects frozen in time, the museum is a lively place for exchanging and sharing craftsmanship, Gascon traditions and the Occitan language. All year round, activities are organized for young and old alike.
Do you remember the noise of the hammer on the anvil, the gestures of the basket maker making his basket, the ancestral work of wool to transform the fleece? During the summer, many craftsmen await you to introduce you to their trade and introduce you to workshops!

The Occitan language is also honored during the evenings of the museum: traditional tales in music, Gascon ball, polyphony concert...

A very nice ethnographic museum, Écomusée, Village History Museum in the Gers Department, Occitanie Region Southwest France. Tools, equipment and historical objects are displayed by trade, purpose with French and English descriptions. Wonderful to see towns and villages taking initiatives like this to preserve their history for the younger generation to learn and appreciate what our ancestors life was like. Definitely worth the visit. Day trip from Toulouse and very close to Auch.

I went there with my son 13 years old and no regretshad a guided visit done by a charming young lady. She gave her best to make it as interesting as possible for kids an adults. From the making of Armagnac till the way of leaving of poor farmers: Brassier. You will learn a lot and you can stay a pretty long time (over 2 hours for us). So without hesitation a GO....but the quality will depends on the guide, we might have been lucky.

A great museum not to be missed. I love all these old tools which all had a specific purpose and were perfectly suited to the use. Incredible, this ingenuity of which we are incapable today.

Malgré son isolement dans un joli coin de campagne, ce musée vaut le détour ! N'hésitez pas à venir découvrir l'univers rural des années 1900 et antérieures jusqu'à nos jours où presque. Une quantité...
